Jeanne Brenneman
Originally from Pennsylvania, Jeanne began painting in watercolor in 1972. After moving to WV in 1973, she continued to study in workshops with Ed Whitney, Judi Betts, Jeanne Dobie, Tom Lynch, Skip Lawrence, Don Getz, Jan Kunz, Fred Graff, Barbara Nechis, Ellen Elmes, Charles Sharoe, Mel Stabin and others,
She is a signature member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society, associate member of the Southern Watercolor Scoiety, juried member of Allied Artists of WV, and a founding member of the Greenbrier Artists, a local group who have painted together weekly since 1974.
She has shown work in many local, state, and national juried exhibitions, and has won numerous awards. She has done commissioned work for both corporations and individuals. Her paintings have been included in the WV Wildlife Calendar and on the covers of four First STate Bank calendars. One of her paintings hangs in the permanent collection of the Alma Byrd Gallery at the University of Charleston, WV.
She paints and teaches watercolor classes at her homw studio in Lewisburg, where she lives with her husband, Bruce, a retired research forester.
Her work is available a Kitten's Korner in White Sulphur Springs, WV Old Hardware Gallery and Harmony Ridge Gallery in Lewisburg, WV. "I need to be connected to the natural world, and I want my art to express the joy and delight I find there. When I paint, my awareness is heightened and I feel this connection strongly. I try to infuse my paintings with a plus factor. a positive emotional energy, an enhanced view. If you, the viewer, are enriched by the experience, then the painting is a success for both of us."
